DreamMaker Plating

A little history on Brush Plating

Although originally developed in the 1930’s by a French scientist, brush plating is a cost effective environmentally friendly form of electroplating. Brush plating has been used widely in industry, particularly suited to localised repair of previously plated objects and also as a method for repair on printed circuit boards. With the application of decorative coatings such as gold and silver, brush plating is a formidable alternative to tank plating and can be used by a skilled operator as a mobile plating unit.

Brush plating systems are portable and use only very small amounts of chemicals unlike tank dipped treatments, we use hand held portable tools whereby metal is deposited from a water based solution onto a metal part, in selective areas, creating an electrochemical bond.

A basic guide to how it works

We use a lightweight, portable rectifier power supply with two flexible output leads. One is connected to the part being plated and one is connected to the plating wand. The plating tool consists of a handle and a conforming inert anode which is wrapped with an absorbent swab, all metals are plated between 8-10 volts. The Plating solution is water based metal ion containing solution. This solution, when applied properly by the operator, will produce a high quality deposit with excellent adhesion, this will also allow us to perform patch repair areas where the original plating has worn away. By simply stroking the part with swift brush strokes, the circuit is closed and the plating metal bearing solution goes to work, depositing its beautiful layer onto the object.

Portability

We employ a full time technician and offer a service to our customers where it is more convenient to re-plate items in situ, such as bathroom taps, bathroom wastes, bath grips etc. This removes the possibility of employing plumbers and also the risk of any possible damage or leaks. We can refinish your items to the previous beauty and lustre you once knew, without having to remove them. If you have items that are particularly valuable, once again we can come to you and eliminate the risk of loss through courier or postal services. We can plate most items as listed in our summary page.

Quality

With our business, quality is at the forefront of what we do. After much research we chose a premium supplier of chemical solutions. They have been proven time and again to be the best available, ensuring that the customer has a finished product that will be durable and last. Our workmanship is guaranteed against peeling or fading and we also offer professional advice on aftercare of our precious metal deposits.
